Operating Instructions

VERY IMPORTANT

  • DO NOT load or unload camper on a windy day. The amount of wind that is dangerous depends on your exposure, weight of camper, etc..

  • Only unload and store your camper on LEVEL ground.

  • The jacks are only to be used to load, unload, or steady the camper. Never use these jacks to store your camper on.

  • DO NOT extend jack beyond red safety line on inner tube.

  • Inspect and maintain your jacks regularly.

Operating Instructions
READ CAREFULLY
BEFORE USING THE HYDRAULIC JACKS

Unloading

  1. Open the release valve on one of the front jacks 2 - 3 turns.

  2. With the release valve open, loosen and move the safety catch and push the inner leg tube to the ground. Unless you are unloading on a concrete surface, a 1/2" thick piece of plywood, 6" square, is recommended to be placed under the leg pad of each jack. This should keep the jack from sinking into any soft ground. If it doesn't, do not unload camper until steps have been taken to ensure the jacks do not sink. Repeat the same procedure for the other three jacks. By the time you return to the first jack it should now be sufficiently primed to operate right away.

  3. Inspect camper to ensure all tie downs and electrical attachments are disconnected from the truck body.

  4. Close the release valve and with the pump handle inserted into the linkage assembly, pump one of the FRONT jacks up 4" - 5". Repeat the same procedure for the other FRONT jack. Next, follow the same procedure for the two REAR jacks.

  5. Adjust the jacks individually to ensure the camper is level.

  6. Remove the truck SLOWLY. Be very careful not to hit any of the jacks and/or camper, as the hit would likely damage the hydraulic system of the jack(s) and the camper.

  7. To LOWER the camper, carefully open the release valve on one of the REAR jacks and leave open. Then open the release valve on the other REAR jack and lower approx. 4". Close the release valves on BOTH jacks. Next lower a FRONT jack approx. 4". Repeat the same on the other FRONT jack. Always keep rear of camper slightly lower than the front.

  8. The circuit can then be repeated until camper is at a desired level. The camper should be lowered near to the ground onto storage blocks.

  9. Remove and store handle in a convenient place.

Loading

  1. Ensure all release valves are closed.

  2. Pump the FRONT jacks up about 4" - 5" and then repeat the same for the REAR jacks. Continue until the camper will clear the truck box.

  3. CAUTION: Use extreme care not to hit any of the jacks or camper while you are backing your truck under the camper.

  4. When the truck and camper are aligned, slowly lower the camper to the truck box deck by alternately lowering each jack ( by slowly opening the release valve ) approx. 3" at a time. It is recommended the FRONT jacks be lowered 3" and then the REAR jacks 3" to avoid having the camper in an unstable situation.

  5. After the camper has been securely tied down to the truck, the jack inner tube can be pushed back up inside the outer tube by opening the release valve about 3 full turns. Fasten the safety catch and close the release valve. Crack the release valve open about a 1/4 turn to avoid a build up of pressure in the cylinder section of the jack during hot temperature weather. Repeat the same on all the jacks.

Winterizing your camper jacks

It is recommended that after the camper has been taken off the pickup truck for winter storage that it be lowered onto either blocks or some other stable supports.
  1. The pump plunger ( linkage assembly HJ104 ) should be kept in the Pump Assembly Cartridge as much as possible and the top of the jack covered to protect it from the weather and elements.

  2. The inner tube should be retracted completely and the safety catch fastened to prevent rusting of the Ram (HJ107) during the winter months.
